Open Call: Ongoing Submissions
We invite you to participate in an ongoing, open submission for our multimedia exhibition exploring the cultural, emotional, and symbolic meanings of beds around the world.
We are collecting photographs of beds in all their forms — traditional, handmade, contemporary, communal, cultural, minimalist, luxurious, or deeply personal. Beds hold stories of rest, memory, transition, dreaming, intimacy, and healing. Each submission becomes part of a growing global visual archive that continues to shape the exhibition over time.
You can participate in one of two ways:
• Submit your work through the Google Form
• Or share on Instagram and tag us @beds_storyproject
How to Submit
Please submit your photo and short description using this form: Google Form
Alternative Submission Option:
If you are unable to access the form, you may submit by email to helen@africaphotostories.com (please include “Submission for Global Bed Project” in the Subject line)
Please include:
- 1 photo of a bed (no people)
- Country/location
- A short description or memory
- Optional: how you’d like to be credited (Full name, first name, anonymous, other)
Consent
By submitting your photo (through the form or email), you give full permission to the artists to use the image and accompanying text for this exhibition and any future related exhibitions, publications, or digital displays. Photos should not include people (adults or children).
Please Note: Submissions for print display in the exhibition are now closed (deadline: December 31, 2025), but we are continuing to accept bed stories and photographs for the digital portion of the exhibition.
Selected submissions will be considered for digital presentation within the exhibition and may also be shared online and on our social media platforms.
All submissions will continue to be reviewed thoughtfully, and selected works will become part of the project’s evolving digital archive. Thank you so much for being here and for your contributions!
